  • Last Rose of Summer – Brass Band

The arrangements in Bill Reichenbach’s American Brass Band Series were written to showcase the brass band. These familiar tunes are all great audience pleasers and will be a welcome addition to your next concert.

Bill and his band, playing on restored instruments from the 1870s, performed these charts at the Great American Brass Band Festival, Custer’s Little Big Horn re-enactment and brass benefit concerts to name a few.

Each arrangement has the parts numbered from the top down on both the score and the individual parts. For example, numbers 6 and 7 have parts for both trombone bass clef as well as transposing treble clef parts for tenor horns. All the optional versions of the same part have the same number, making it simple to have all the parts covered by making sure that you have someone playing all the numbers. Print all the parts or print only those you need.

This delightful version of the familiar Irish melody The Last Rose Of Summer has the following parts included:

    1 – Eb Cornet
    2 – Bb Cornet/Trumpet 1
    3 – Bb Cornet/Trumpet 2
    4 – F Horn 1
    4 – Eb Horn 1
    5 – F Horn 2
    5 – Eb Horn 2
    6 – Trombone/Tenor Horn 1 (BC)
    6 – Trombone/Tenor Horn 1 (TC)
    7 – Trombone/Tenor Horn 2 (BC)
    7 – Trombone/Tenor Horn 2 (TC)
    8 –  Baritone Horn (BC)
    8 –  Baritone Horn (TC)
    9 – Tuba (BC)
    9 – Eb Tuba (TC)
    9 – Bb Tuba (TC)

  • Madrigal: Draw On, Sweet Night – Brass Quintet

John Wilbye (1574 – 1638) was an English composer, one of the finest madrigalists of his time. Madrigal: Draw On, Sweet Night, written over 400 years ago, is his most well known and greatest work. There is a complex array of harmonic shifts, with constant changes between minor and major. It is delicate, yet powerful, and will work well in any church setting or recital. There is an artistic unity to his writing that every audience should appreciate.

  • March – Woodwind Quintet

The Suite of movements extracted by Tchaikovsky from his ballet music for The Nutcracker was an immediate success. As prevalent as the complete ballet The Nutcracker is today, it is hard to imagine that it took years, and perhaps the staging of George Balanchine, for it to become popular.

Some of the most memorable pieces from the suite are the Characteristic Dances. In Act II of the ballet, these movements are employed to introduce different residents of the “Land of Sweets.”  Tchaikovsky’s orchestration makes adept use of wind instrument color. This translates very effectively in arrangements for the woodwind quintet.

In the March (Marche et petit galop des enfants) from Act I, children act as soldiers to music that is at the same time martial and innocent.

    Composer: Mark Questad
Instrumentation: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, F Horn & Bassoon
    Duration/# of Pages: ca. 2:40 / 23 pages, 8.5″ x 11″
    Key: G

  • naked tuba – Tuba Solo

Alone on stage. Just a chair and a music stand, you and your tuba. Feeling so very exposed, you begin the first notes of naked tuba.

The opening tempo is marked “slow, calm (mostly)” and you are totally free to express yourself. Although written in one continuous movement, the second tempo is marked “agitated (sometimes)” and again, the decisions are all yours.

This piece was written for Doug Tornquist, with great respect and admiration. I've had the opportunity to work with Doug on many occasions and his playing always inspires me to write more.

The tuba is an incredibly lyrical and versatile instrument. This unaccompanied piece celebrates the unlimited colors of this expressive instrument.

The “Add to cart” button shows “Score & Parts”; however, naked tuba is in solo format only, as per the sample first page.
