Garry Owen – Brass Band
The arrangements in Bill Reichenbach's American Brass Band Series were written to showcase the brass band. These familiar tunes are all great audience pleasers and will be a welcome addition to your next concert.
Bill and his band, playing on restored instruments from the 1870s, performed these charts at the Great American Brass Band Festival, Custer's Little Big Horn re-enactment and brass benefit concerts to name a few.
Each arrangement has the parts numbered from the top down on both the score and the individual parts. For example, numbers 6 and 7 have parts for both trombone bass clef as well as transposing treble clef parts for tenor horns. All the optional versions of the same part have the same number, making it simple to have all the parts covered by making sure that you have someone playing all the numbers. Print all the parts or print only those you need.

Gaudete – Brass Quintet
Gaudete is a 16th century Christmas carol, first published in 1582 in Finland. The carol is referred to as a medieval folk carol, and was most likely written in the late 1400s. It’s origin in unknown.
There are many notated versions of this carol, with a variety of meters. This arrangement has meters based on the Latin lyrics, thus the 3 + 3 phrasing. The stanzas are followed by a 4-bar refrain.
The title means rejoice, and the music will bring joy and great delight to your audience.
Composer: Anne McGinty
Instrumentation: 2 Bb Trumpets, F Horn, Trombone & Tuba

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – Brass Quintet
Beginning simply with solo tuba, the trombone then takes the melody and the tuba adds a chromatic bass line setting the mood of this well known carol. A brief canon leads to the middle section, brighter in tempo, and using fragments of the carol. And then, a rollicking 3/4 version (in one) with the carol joyous and unexpectedly Lydian.
Christmas is a celebration of joy and exuberance and this clever arrangement will absolutely delight your audience.
Thanks to the Vista Brass Quintet for recording this piece. My gift to you is the complete recording. Please note that it is under the Hear an Excerpt as there is no charge.
